Guitarist and composer Tim Fitzgerald’s love of Jazz comes through with every note he plays. From his early days as a Blues devotee to his recent concerts with legendary saxophonist Von Freeman, Tim has been hailed as a player with a sweet tone, a swinging feel, and crafty melodic ideas.

Time began his formal musical education at Princeton University and continued at New York’s Mannes College of Music. But his real Jazz education began with Jazz great Barry Harris’ famous improvisation class, further deepening his connection to the Jazz tradition. Time also studied with guitarists Rodney Jones and Pete Bernstein while in NY.

Since returning to his hometown in Chicago in 1997, Tim has performed extensively around the country. A regular at many of Chicago’s jazz clubs, such as The Green Mill and The New Apartment Lounge, Tim has also appeared in a myriad of different venues, including performances at the Chicago Cultural Center with Von Freeman, on WGN radio with saxophonist Cameron Pfiffner, and at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angelos and Las Vegas’ Luxor with the band TWC. With Von, Time headlined the 2005 Coming Home, Coming Together festival in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Television appearances include a performance and interview on public television’s “Art Beat” with the 58 Group and NBC evening news. Tim was also a first alternate for the Kennedy Center Jazz Ambassador Tour in 2001.

Tim is also a teacher of Jazz and an author, having recently completed a soon to be published book of Wes Montgomery transcriptions.

With much accomplished, and much more to come, stay posted to hear Tim in a city near you.
